HAMAKUA ENERGY
In 2017, Pacific Current acquired the 60 MW Hamakua Energy Partners power plant on Hawai‘i Island. Located in Honokaa, Hamakua Energy is one of the highest efficiency power plants in the state and plays a vital role in ensuring Hawai‘i residents have reliable power. Hamakua Energy sells power to Hawaii Electric Light Company (HELCO) under an existing power purchase agreement (PPA) that expires in 2030.
In October 2019, Pacific Current partnered with Pacific Biodiesel Technologies on a biodiesel supply contract to increase the use of renewable fuels – as defined by the Hawai‘i State Energy Office – decrease the dependence on imported fossil fuels and support local economic development and green jobs. The partnership is an important step in advancing energy dependence and energy security for the state of Hawai‘i.
