Vice President/ Director of Strategy and Business Development

Vice President/ Director of Strategy and Business Development will be a key team member
of our diverse, result-oriented team who will be responsible for researching economic
opportunities and developing successful business plans as Pacific Current explore investment
opportunities in various sectors with infrastructure needs. The Director of Strategy will also
perform multitude of other functions such as those set forth below. We are looking for an energetic
professional who is reliable, efficient, and does not mind wearing multiple hats.

Key accountabilities for the Director of Strategy include:
• Strategize on continuous development of Pacific Current’s point of view and execute business
plans focused on new and emerging technologies in various sectors including electricity
generation, clean transportation, wastewater treatment/reuse, and infrastructure development
to support commercial agriculture and aquaculture. Leverage local and industry contacts to
keep abreast of latest technological developments. Communicate Pacific Current’s point of
view to HEI senior leadership and Board of Directors.
• Evaluate and pursue partnership opportunities with technology providers looking to enter the
Hawaii market as well as Hawaii based businesses looking for partners willing to take an
active role in financial and operational support.
• Provide leadership and support on transformational initiatives and projects that accelerate the
achievement of results in line with HEI’s strategic priorities.
• Build corporate intelligence through robust strategic planning, competitive assessment and
scenario planning, new technologies evaluations, market research, and data driven analysis.
• Develop robust screening methodologies for prioritizing innovation investment/JV/partnering
opportunities.
• Act as a champion for change through collaboration with the entire Pacific Current team by
using a comprehensive set of defined skills/methodologies and a rigorous, data driven
approach to strategy implementation and the execution of work plans.
• Ensure alignment of assigned projects and programs with strategy, dashboard performance
improvement and business improvement goals

Required Skills:

sessions with senior leaders and directors.
• Demonstrated ability with quantitative and statistical analysis. Must have facility with
descriptive statistics to collect, synthesize, and communicate information in a clear,
concise manner. Requires the ability to analyze data, frame questions and conceptualize
the data and decision support tools needed to correlate/drive to desired outcomes.
• Must have strong skills/experience in creatively solving complex problems, developing
actionable recommendations and effectively strategizing with senior executives.
• Must have the ability to energize and inspire others and to create an environment that
encourages cooperation, motivation, innovation, and high-performance teamwork.
• Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate a strong network
to gain trust, respect and support from senior leaders toward achieving organizational
goals.
• Must be able to maintain an organized approach, clarity of purpose, and goal orientation
in a rapidly changing environment involving multiple stakeholders.
• Must have effective written, oral, and presentation skills.

• Position requires in-office commitment and occasional inter-island travel.

Experience and Training Requirements:
1. Four-year undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university is required, with
a preference towards concentrations in engineering, business, or economics. Advanced
degree in business or engineering is a plus.
2. Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in business development, strategy, or strategy
and management consulting.
3. Experience with infrastructure development, construction principles and concepts, project
management and coordination, usually acquired through experience.
4. Ability to perform detailed financial analysis using skills usually obtained through
completion of Economics, Capital Investment courses, or similar collegiate course work.
5. Additional course work in Finance, Accounting and Marketing would be desirable.

Financial Asset Manager

Financial Asset Manager will be a key team member of our diverse, result-oriented team who
will be responsible for managing Pacific Current’s financial operations and optimization of portfolio
of projects. This role will work closely with Pacific Current’s Technical Asset Manager to optimize
the financial performance and oversee the accounting operations and loan compliance
requirements for the company and project portfolio. This role also supports the business
development efforts of Pacific Current to build best-in-class facilities that are ready for operations.
We are looking for an energetic professional who is highly organized, punctual, efficient, and does
not mind wearing multiple hats.

Key accountabilities for the Financial Asset Manager include:
• Performing loan compliance functions for the project portfolio, including: AP & AR
oversight, invoice coding, variance analysis, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and
preparing unaudited financial statements
• Managing and monitoring the financial performance of operating assets
• Interfacing with lenders and partners relating to loan compliance
• Ensuring timely preparation of project budgets, reforecasts, quarterly calculations, and
required documentation
• Coordinating with the Accounting and Treasury teams to ensure project invoices and
other payments are properly approved and processed in a timely manner
• Support business development functions on due diligence relating to project acquisition
opportunities, including review and optimization of project financial models, valuation
models, and other finance diligence support.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:
• Self-starter with strong organizational skills, pays attention to details and the ability to work
with multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Accounting savviness - Must have solid understanding of US GAAP standards, variance
analysis, G/L review, financial statements, budgeting, and accounting principles.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and analyze commercial loans and financing
agreements and structures.
• Must have solid understanding of tax equity structures and modeling.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with highly creative, innovative,
and result-oriented cross-functional team members.
• Must have strong skills/experience in creatively solving complex problems, developing

• Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate a strong network

Experience and Training Requirements:

a preference towards concentrations in accounting, finance, or economics. Advanced
degree in business or finance is a plus.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in asset management, project finance or financial
planning and analysis preferred
• Prior experience with oversight of non-recourse loans, capital projects, negotiating loan
financing arrangements with lenders and required lender reporting
• Experienced in reviewing and understanding complex, project specific construction and
development contract documents.
• Experienced in risk mitigation, portfolio optimization, financial performance of operating
assets, and forecasting
• Ability to perform detailed financial analysis using skills usually obtained through
completion of Economics, Capital Investment courses, or similar collegiate course work.
